Insights to help you lead where you are

Between Momentum & Meaning

This time last year, we took our Leadership Networking Events around Australia and New Zealand focusing on what it means to become resilient leaders. We talked about holding steady, leading well, and continuing forward even when the path ahead wasn’t obvious.

Now, a year on and at the midpoint of this year – it’s worth pausing to ask: how are you really tracking?

For many leaders, this season of the year can feel heavy. The initial momentum of January has faded. The pressures haven’t disappeared. Some are carrying fatigue, disappointment, difficult decisions, financial pressure, team challenges, or simply the ongoing weight of responsibility.

So, in the middle of the pace, pressure, and uncertainty, are you still leading from a place of strength and purpose?

We often define resilience as the ability to “bounce back.” But leadership resilience is more than recovering quickly or returning to normal. Sometimes resilience is simply learning how to keep going while still in the storm. Staying grounded. Staying healthy. Staying faithful when clarity is limited and the future feels uncertain.

Resilient leaders aren’t people who avoid difficulty. They are people who learn how to navigate complex, painful, and uncertain seasons without losing themselves in the process.

In a recent conversation, GLN President David Ashcraft and Whitney Putnam explored why resilience matters, the importance of celebrating small wins, and how the right inputs shape the kind of leaders we become.

One insight stood out clearly: resilience doesn’t begin after the storm passes. It begins when you choose to keep taking the next faithful step.

Here are a few practical reminders from that conversation:

1. Don’t make major decisions in the middle of emotional exhaustion. Give yourself space to think clearly before changing direction.

2. Focus on the next step, not the entire mountain. Small progress still matters.

3. Celebrate what is working. Small wins rebuild energy and momentum.

4. Be intentional about the voices shaping you. Seek clarity, wisdom, and encouragement.

5. Adjust your approach without abandoning your calling. Resilient leaders adapt without giving up.

So, what is the “storm” you may be facing right now? Where do you need to slow down, refocus, or ask for support? And where have you already shown more resilience than you’ve given yourself credit for?

Sometimes the strongest thing a leader can do is simply remain faithful in the middle of the journey.

Maybe you’re just starting out in the workforce, stepping into leadership for the first time, navigating a demanding season, needing fresh perspective and rest, or discovering new purpose in retirement. Wherever you are, God’s purpose for your life has not diminished.

We were never meant to stop growing, learning, or rediscovering the strength God has placed within us. Some of the most significant leadership moments happen in seasons we never expected.

The best is still to come.

That’s why GLS26 matters.

Build the Leaders Your Future Depends On

At Next Gen, we help schools, organisations, and leaders intentionally develop leadership capability in young people – early, practically, and with purpose.

Through our Next Gen Leadership Pathways, we provide curriculum and leadership development resources that equip educators to shape confident, resilient, and values-driven leaders in everyday environments.

This is not theory. It is applied leadership formation that builds clarity, character, resilience, and healthy influence in the next generation.

Because technical skills alone are not enough for the world they are stepping into. What’s needed is formed leadership capacity – the ability to think clearly, act wisely, and stay grounded in uncertainty.

Flexible Pathways for Different Contexts

Every school and organisation is different. That’s why we’ve designed our Next Gen Leadership Pathways packages to be flexible, scalable, and practical for a range of leadership environments.

If you’re ready to intentionally invest in the next generation of leaders, we’d love to connect with you.

Ignite 2026 – A Legacy of Leadership

The Ignite 2026 Conference journey has taken us across Brisbane, Perth, and Newcastle – bringing together leaders, voices, and communities around one shared purpose: to ignite leadership that creates lasting impact.

Across every location, we’ve seen powerful moments of inspiration, renewed vision, and meaningful connection that will continue well beyond the events themselves and a powerful reminder of the importance of gathering together and being in the room.

While Ignite has now concluded in its current format, the impact remains, and the momentum continues.

We invite you to carry that momentum forward with us into GLS26, as we continue to equip, inspire, and strengthen leaders across Australia and beyond.

Leadership never stands still.
Lead where you are.
